The Age of Aquarius

Stars of the Aquarius Zodiac SignAstrologers do not agree on the date when the Aquarian age will start or even if it has already started(1)(2) but, the stars do not lie. At the end of the 1900's and beginning of the 21st century, the Sun's March equinox position was in the constellation Pisces moving back into Aquarius. This by many signaled the end of one astrological age, the Age of Pisces and the beginning of the Age of Aquarius.(3)

The length of an astrological age is calculated by the average time it takes for the vernal equinox to move from one constellation of the zodiac into the next. There are various methods of calculating this. Many astrologers maintain that an astrological age is a product of the earth's slow precessional rotation and lasts for 2,150 years. That's when our planet shifts and rotates to another age on the zodiac wheel. This can also be computed by dividing the earth's 25,800-year period of precession by twelve, which is the number of zodiac constellation.(4)

It is said that an astrological age affects humanity, possibly by influencing the rise and fall of civilizations or cultural tendencies. Aquarius is associated with electricity, computers, flight, democracy, freedom, idealism, modernization, astrology, nervous disorders, rebellion, nonconformity, perseverance, and humanity.(5)(6) It is also said this is the age the woman will be equal to the man. The first sign is Aries, followed by Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces, whereupon the cycle returns to Aries and through the zodiacal signs again. Astrological ages, however, proceed in the opposite direction. Therefore, the Age of Aquarius follows the Age of Pisces.(7)

In the 19th Century a device called the Telegraph was invented. This electrical device was capable of sending electrical signals over long distance wires and became the first form of electrical telecommunications.(8) It was not until later that century, almost fifty years later that we then figured out how to use same metal to create a light bulb(9) the same way. Could this be an indication for the rise of a different age?

The Hopi native American Indian tribe had prophesied that "when the earth is ravaged and the animals are dying, a new tribe of people shall come unto the earth from many colors, classes, creeds and who by their actions and deeds shall make the earth green again. They will be known as the Warriors of the Rainbow."(10). Could that be a reference to the dawn of the age of Aquarius?

The Maya Civilization had predicated a five thousand years plus “new era”(11) that would come during the winter solstice in in 2012 many hundreds of years before it's astrological date using Mesoamerican Long Count calendar. What if this predication was also in conjunction with the beginning of the age of Aquarius?
